City Manager's Blog - Snowplowing and Winter Ordinances

Though we have been experiencing a mild winter with very little snow fall thus far, our Public Works Department continues to prepare for an inevitable West Michigan snow and ice-filled winter.

Residents can help prepare as well. One way that you can help is by ensuring that your tress are trimmed along the sidewalks (the City does hire a private contractor to do this work as necessary), also please make sure to remove items such as basketball hoops, trailers, unlicensed vehicles, leaf piles, toys and other obstructing items from the street right-of-way. This is the area between the sidewalk on one side of the street to the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street. These items can hinder winter maintenance activities such as snow removal.

KDL - Snow Day? Stay Home!

Temperatures are falling and winter is just around the corner. As we all prepare for poor driving conditions, snow shoveling and bundling up in coats, hats, and gloves, we thought we would fill you in on a policy you might not be aware of. There may be days this winter that driving conditions are so dangerous that we close our library branches. If this occurs, please don’t worry about returning items due that day. Stay safe! During snow closures, you will not accrue fines for returning your items a day late.

Emergency closings will be posted to our website. If  the weather is frightful, check to see if we are open before venturing out!

City Manager's Blog - Fall is here

Fall is on its way and very quickly we are going to see the leaves piling up in our yards. Each year our Public Works Department does its best to help residents dispose of yard waste.

Beginning on Sept. 26, residents can rent a trailer from the Public Works Department for the disposal of leaves.  The trailers are delivered and picked up by City of Wyoming personnel, so all you have to do is fill it up.

Small (3-4 cy) $5 weekday; $10 weekend
Large (6-8 cy)  $10 weekday; $20 weekend

We also have a yard waste disposal drop off site located at 2660 Burlingame Ave. SW. The location is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through December 10. The site requires ID for entrance.
