Trail & Accessible Playground Open in Wyoming

Wyoming, Michigan, May 12 - Children and families will be excited to hear that the X-wave teetertotter, jungle drums, basketball and tennis courts, bike trail and playground are ready for play as the Wyoming Parks & Recreation Department invites the community to the grand opening ceremony being held at Oriole Park, 1368 42nd St, Wyoming at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. In honor of the event, the City of Wyoming has joined with Wyoming Public Schools' Oriole Park Elementary School in hosting an afternoon field day of fun, free activities. The first 500 guests will receive a free gift including free ice cream sponsored by Macatawa Bank!

"With the park's new design and play equipment, we expand the number and caliber of accessible recreation facilities in Wyoming, giving area residents yet another reason to explore Wyoming's exceptional park system," said Rebecca Rynbrandt, Director of Community Services.

Oriole Park Grand Opening!

The Grand re-opening of Oriole Park is set to take place with a celebration on May 26th at 1:30pm.  Newly updated are the playground, basketball and tennis courts, walking path and the city's third splashpad.  The May 26th Celebration is to include a brief ceremony, follow by a number of children's activities and Macatawa Bank's 'Mac Snack Wagon'.  The new splashpad is scheduled to open June 1st.  Funding for the renovation came from a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant, Access to Recreation Universal Accessibility grant, and the city's parks and recreation millage.

Wyoming defeats the Gypsy Moth

Wyoming defeats the Gypsy Moth

WYOMING - Thanks to two successful years of spraying for Gypsy Moths, the City of Wyoming is getting a year off.

In "The Record", Wyoming residents learned that due to spraying the last couple of years and the gypsy moth natural cycle, spraying in 2011 would be unnecessary, according to the company that monitors the moths in Wyoming, Aquatic Consulting Services.

The spraying will be reevaluated next Spring.

Residents who are concerned and want to continue to protect their own trees can purchase the products at local garden stores.
