Wyoming restricts fireworks use
News

WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM)- If you want to set off fireworks in Wyoming you'll soon be restricted as to when you can do that. Starting Saturday, residents can only light consumer fireworks the day before, the day of and the day after a federal holiday. Anyone who uses them outside those times could be ticketed for disturbing the peace.

The new rules apply to bottle rockets, Roman candles and fireworks that go up into the air.

Wyoming joins at least two other local communities restricting consumer fireworks.

Tonight the Grand Rapids City Commission approved new guidelines limiting fireworks to the same days as Wyoming. The Grand Rapids restrictions, which will take effect July 1, also prohibit lighting off fireworks in public areas.

Rockford has also banned consumer fireworks from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. with the exceptions for the day before, the day of and the day after major holidays.
