Wyoming City Manager's Blog - Spring has Sprung
Spring has sprung early in Michigan this year! Here at City Hall, the daffodils and trees are blooming and everything seems to be greening up. This warm weather has been a real treat and it seems to have encouraged a lot of people to get outside for one reason or another. As you get out and about, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
- Due to these unseasonably warm temperatures, the City of Wyoming has decided to open the yard waste drop-off site early. The drop-off site will be open the next two Saturdays; March 24 and March 31 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Beginning on April 2, the site will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am – 7:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Curbside leaf pickup is scheduled Saturday, April 21.
- Our parks are open too, but some of our facilities, such as restrooms, may not be available yet. We usually have a longer transitional period between cold winter weather and summer-like temperatures, allowing us time to open all of the facilities, prepare fields for use and bring on seasonal employees to help maintain everything. That hasn’t been the case this year, but we are putting forth our best effort to get things open and operational. Currently, Lamar, Pinery and Frog Hollow have open restroom facilities. Other parks will be opened as demand and time permit.
Whatever endeavors you’re undertaking, I hope you are able to enjoy the nice weather and that you find City services that are helpful and supportive of your activities.
