Taste of My Town: Lindo Mexico

WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- It's been a staple in the Grand Rapids area for 15 years, and now Lindo Mexico has a new location, which is much bigger than the last one.

It's still on 28th Street, just a few blocks from the old location, and features a new bar area along with murals showing icons of Mexican culture. Those murals were painted by artist Elton Monroy whose work was featured at DeVos Place during ArtPrize Seven.

One thing that hasn't changed though, is the food that's been bringing people to Lindo Mexico for years. Restaurant leaders say the secret is their freshness and authenticity. They say their regulars have grown to understand they may wait a little longer for their meals, but it's because nothing is pre-prepared and everything is made with care.

So what's going to happen with the old location? Restaurant leaders say they have plans in the works. They're not ready to say what yet, but an announcement could come as soon as January.

Lindo Mexico is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. To check out their menu, follow this link to Lindo Mexico's website.
