My Town Wyoming: City panhandling restrictions to take effect March 4

WYOMING, Mich.--- A new ordinance restricting panhandling in Wyoming will take effect March 4.

The city had a final reading of the ordinance during the city council meeting Feb. 17.   The ordinance prohibits people from soliciting for money or other things of value:

  • On private property without an owner’s consent;
  • Within 15 feet of any public restroom entries or exits;
  • Within 15 feet of an ATM;
  • Within 15 feet of a pay phone;
  • Within any public transportation vehicle;
  • Within 15 feet of any bus stop or taxi stand;
  • From any driver on a public street, not including emergency services;
  • From people waiting in line to enter any building;
  • Within 15 feet of an entrance or exit of a building.
