Wyoming Public Schools millages fail again
WYOMING, Mich.—A revised version of the school improvement millage that failed before voters in May failed again Tuesday night.
Wyoming Public Schools divided the original millage into two bond proposals. Proposal I was for $37 million to remodel and refurnish school facilities, add secure entryways, and add new technology to the high school, as well as build/improve playgrounds, athletic facilities and fields. The millage was for up to 2.36 mills, being repaid within 25 years. That millage narrowly failed among voters, 1,896 votes to 1,816 votes.
Proposal II was for $12.2 million to build an addition onto the high school for a performing arts center. The bond would have also paid for technology needed for the performing arts center, as well as improving athletic facilities and playfields. The millage was for 0.78 mill, being repaid within 15 years. Voters turned that tax down, 1,929 votes to 1,738 votes.
