On Tuesday, Mar. 8th, the Rockford and Wyoming locations will celebrate International Women's Day by showing interviews with Homeland Security and local law enforcement on recognizing the signs of trafficking and exploitation in your realm of influence, as well as offering free coffee and chocolate to shoppers, and 10% off the entire book collection.

Wyoming Historical Commission Presents 100 Years of History on Oak Lane

Wyoming, Mich., March 2, 2011 - The Wyoming Historical Commission will present a free two-part program at the Wyoming Public Library on the history of the property located along Oak Lane, just west of Byron Center Ave. and north of Buck Creek, part of which once belonged to the Wedgwood Christian Boys Home.  

The first presentation will be held on March 8th at 6:30 p.m.

City of Wyoming Engineers Demonstrate Daily Uses of Engineering during Engineering Week

WYOMING, Mich., Feb. 22, 2011 – Employees from the City of Wyoming Utilities Department join volunteers from the American Society of Civil Engineers, Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and local engineering students for the annually held Engineering Week at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

Organized by local chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, the event educates children in grades 3-7 about the field of engineering. Who is an engineer? What does an engineer do? What are examples of engineering in our community? Engineering Week activities are being offered all day on Feb. 23 and 25 for registered groups. On Feb. 26 activities are available through admission to the museum.

“The Utilities Department provides the activities and volunteers for the drinking water treatment and waste water treatment station,” explained Jaime Halm, laboratory supervisor for the City of Wyoming Water Treatment Plant.

The following City of Wyoming elected offices will be on the November 8, 2011 ballot:

Councilmember at Large - four year term
Councilmember 2nd Ward - four year term
Councilmember 3rd Ward - four year term

The City Charter requires that candidates be registered electors of the City of Wyoming, and a resident of the City for at least one year prior to the filing deadline.

Candidate packets with required forms and instructions are available in the City  Clerk's Office. The filing deadline is 4 p.m. on May 10, 2011. If more than twice the number to be elected file in any office, that office will have a primary election on August 2, 2011.
