Army Field Band coming to Wyoming

Wyoming, MI – May 30, 2012 – The Wyoming Community Enrichment Commission (WCEC) announces a special concert performance by the United States Army Field Band on Wednesday, June 27, at Lamar Park in Wyoming.

The WCEC, producers of Concerts in the Park, is pleased to announce this free concert by “The Volunteers”, the US Army Field Band’s premier touring band, sponsored by Edward Jones.  “We are excited to host this act”, says Brandon Simmons, Chair of the WCEC.  “We have been pursuing the Army Field Band for a couple years now, and are happy to offer this concert as a free, family event”.  This is the US Army Field Band’s only scheduled performance in Michigan this summer.

The Volunteers, formed in 1981, is a six-piece musical show band that takes the best popular music and blends it in a show that appeals to all ages. The group has performed before millions of listeners through all 50 states, and has also performed international concerts.  Its members, selected by highly competitive audition, represent some of the finest musical talent in America. They have earned the title of "Musical Ambassadors of the Army”.

The WCEC hosts 9 regular season concerts at Lamar Park, every Tuesday at 7pm starting June 12.  The US Army Field Band concert had to be scheduled outside of their normal schedule, due to a very small window of performance dates the band was available.  “Due to their limited tour schedule, we wanted to be flexible with any date they were willing to perform”, says Brandon Simmons.

The concert will be held at the grandstand area in Lamar Park.  Attendees may bring their own chair or sit in the bleachers.  Refreshments will be available on site.  Visit their Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/WyomingCEC.
