Wyoming Gives Back Dec. 1 at Roger's Plaza | Arts & Culture
Taking place at Roger’s Plaza on Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., “Wyoming Gives Back” is a festive way to kick-off the holidays and to give back to area families in need through the Toys for Tots program.
Families are invited by the City of Wyoming and the 28th Street business community to enjoy an evening of music, food, raffle prizes and free photos with Santa Claus. Music will be provided by the Salvation Army Brass Band, Roger’s High School Choir, Roger’s High School Jazz Band, and Parkview & West Elementary student choirs. Holiday favorite, Pedro the monkey will also be in attendance.
“Wyoming Gives Back” is a fun way for 28th Street businesses to say thank you to the community. Residents are encouraged to bring a toy donation with them and for each toy donated one raffle ticket will be entered into one of four large prize drawings. The drawings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and winners must be present. You could event win an ipad! Toy donations will be collected in a City of Wyoming Public Works truck throughout the night, with hopes of filling the truck.
“We wanted to create a fun, festive event that would bring our community and downtown businesses together to celebrate the holiday season and also to benefit a great cause,” Barb VanDuren, DDA director, said. “The hope is that Wyoming Gives Back will become an annual event for our community.
“From the support and excitement we’ve seen from the business community, we expect that it will be a successful evening. 28th Street is filled with wonderful, committed businesses that want to see Wyoming prosper and are eager to engage with community members.”
Mayor Jack Poll and members of the Wyoming City Council will also attend “Wyoming Gives Back.” WZZM’s Catherine Behrendt will also make an appearance! Please join us, and bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots!
