  • 2012 Holy Trinity Pinewood Derby

    Pinewood Derby.
    Now is the time to join and smoke your fellow Christians in some competitive derby racing. Racing is...open to all; friends, family, neighbors, young, old, and mid life crisis age. If you don’t have tools, come to our workshops. All proceeds from this event go to Holy Trinity’s Christian Education League.

    1.Pinewood Derby Class –
    open to all ages. 5 oz weight limit. Drivers in this class must purchase a car kit plus the registration fee to enter. Car Kit is $10.00 (includes registration fee, wood, 4 tires, 2 axles, and 5 hubcaps) If you choose to purchase a derby car from a local hobby shop then you only need to pay the $6 registration fee to enter on race day. You may not enter a car from a previous year.

    2.Open Class –
    open to all ages. Minimum rules here. Just make sure it fits on the track. Use your creative mind to find ways to make the car go faster than what gravity provides. Starting devices and modifying your wheels are allowed and encouraged. $6 registration fee.

    3. Big Rig Class -
    New this year will be 18 wheeler truck racing! if you have trouble keeping 4 wheels on the track, that's nothing; try 18! Run a 18 Wheeler big truck down the track. yes, it does get this fun! Big Rig Kit is $15 plus $6 Reg fee.

    4.Loop-De-Loop:
    After the race, try out the Loop-de-loop with your car. don't blame me if it doesn't make it through the loop, but sure to be fun.

    5.Classic Race --
    On Friday, while you’re tuning up your car for this year’s race, bring a car from the past year(s) to have a classic race. This will also help verify and test the computerized track performance. No entry fee, no trophy, but just fun to see the ole car run again. Throw in a few bucks and we’ll order some pizzas.


    KITS:
    Car kits available for sale between services and after late service. Kits will be available in the Kitchen at all other times.

    Saturday, January 28 9:00am to Noon
    Sunday, February 5 after bible class
    Saturday, February 11 9:00am to Noon
    Saturday, February 18 9:00am to Noon
    Friday, February 24 6:00 – 8:00pm – Race track setup – Classic Race night
    Race Day
    Saturday February 25 Registration 8:30am – 9:30am
    Racing at 10:00am
    Breakfast served till 10:30am.

    Breakfast Saturday February 25th 8:30am – 10:30am. The breakfast will be available during the Pinewood Derby race. There is a fee for breakfast but well worth it. Even if you don’t race a car, you can sit down and enjoy a hearty breakfast and be entertained watching the race. Proceeds from breakfast will be used for Easter morning breakfast.

Free event. we are located one building south of Walgreen's at 44th/Division. Same side as Walgreen's. If parking lot is full you can park at Walgreen's and walk over....
