GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Car lovers from across the country are on their way to West Michigan as the 28th Street Metro Cruise returns for a sixth year.

The event attracts more than 300,000 visitors and 15,000 vehicles to Grandville, Wyoming, Kentwood, Grand Rapids, and Cascade Township.

On Thursday, organizers stopped by our studios to showcase just a couple of the classic cars that will take part in this year's Metro Cruise.  They say the two day event is good for the local economy and fun for everyone.

"I just absolutely love people and just watching those cars come in and the excitement that everyone has," says Denise Hughes. "Everybody has a car that they had, their first car they fell in love with or a car they wish they always had everyone can be a part of this."

The 28th Street Metro Cruise starts at 1 p.m. Friday.  This year, it includes a 5-k and 10-k run on Saturday morning.
