Applications being accepted for Poll Workers for the November 2, 2010 Election

Applications are being accepted for poll workers for the November 2 Election, reports Wyoming City Clerk Heidi Isakson. “We have a large pool of election workers, but we also need people trained and on stand-by in case we have cancellations. In order to accommodate the higher turnout for this election, we may need an additional 30 poll workers.” Election Inspectors set up equipment and voting stations, greet voters, approve voter applications, issue ballots and keep accurate records of the voting process. An election inspector must be a registered voter in Kent County, have clerical experience and ability, and good written and oral communications skills. Those interested must complete an application form, including naming a political party affiliation, and attend a two-hour inspector training session. “Compensation is modest,” said Isakson, “but our gratitude for the work our inspectors do is tremendous.” For an application, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 530-7296, or stop in at City Hall, 1155 28th Street SW. Applications are also available on the City’s website, www.wyomingmi.gov.
